- Ein Gedi (Song of Songs 1:14) is located on the western shores of the Dead Sea. A unique oasis to this day, it is a combination of a hot climate and an abundance of drinking water in arid desert surroundings.
- Mount Gilead (Song of Songs 4:1) is located on the East side of the Jordan River, and was known in biblical times as an excellent spot for grazing
- Hermon (Song of Songs 4:8) is a mountain range at the southern end of the Anti-Lebanon mountain range, whose southern slope extends into the northern Golan Heights. This slope is the highest point in the Land of Israel, soaring 2,300 meters above sea level. The mountain range is covered in snow for most of the year, and the runoff of melting snow is the major source of freshwater for the Jordan River which flows into the Sea of Galilee. It is also the location of the Mount Hermon ski resort.
- Tirzah (Song of Songs 6:4) was the capital of the northern kingdom of Israel during the reigns of Baasha, Elah, Zimri and Omri.
- Jerusalem (Song of Songs 6:4) is the modern-day capital of Israel and the ancestral capital of the Jews. King David moved the capital of the united Kingdom of Israel to Jerusalem after capturing the holy city from the Jebusites (II Samuel 5:7), and it remained the capital of the Kingdom of Judah after the split of the kingdom in the time of Jeroboam. In addition to this reference to the city of Jerusalem, Song of Songs makes mention of the “daughters of Jerusalem” in a number of places (Song of Songs 1:5, 2:7, 3:5, 3:10, 5:8, 5:16, 8:4). This phrase has been interpreted as referring to the other nations of the world (Rashi), the physical aspects of a human being (Malbim), and the inner thoughts of the female protagonist of the book.
- Heshbon (Song of Songs 7:5) was a city in the territory of Reuven. It was situated next to a river and had very nice pools of water.
- Lebanon (Song of Songs 7:5), a reference to the mountains of Lebanon which could be seen above all the houses and towers in Damascus. The Mount Lebanon range extends along the entire country parallel to the Mediterranean coast.
- Damascus (Song of Songs 7:5), a city at the foot of the Hermon mountain range.
- Carmel (Song of Songs 7:6), is a coastal mountain range in northern Israel that stretches from the Mediterranean Sea southeast. Mount Carmel is famous for being the mountain on which Elijah the prophet had his showdown against the prophets of Baal (I Kings 18).
