וַיְהִי לִתְקֻפוֹת הַיָּמִים וַתַּהַר חַנָּה וַתֵּלֶד בֵּן וַתִּקְרָא אֶת־שְׁמוֹ שְׁמוּאֵל כִּי מֵיְהֹוָה שְׁאִלְתִּיו׃ Channah conceived, and at the turn of the year bore a son. She named him Shmuel, meaning, “I asked Hashem for him.”
Description about Shmuel
Samuel was the son of Hannah and Elkanah. Hannah, a barren woman, promised to dedicate her son to God if her prayers for a child were answered. True to her word, Hannah brought Samuel to Shiloh where he was raised by the High Priest Eli (I Samuel 1).
